Kind Father in heaven
I humbly come at the dawn of a new Christmas morn
I thank thee for blessings and joy of the past
For friendship, for loved ones, and home
Help me dear Father, that I may not pass
A child that is hungry or cold
Give me words that will comfort
The heartsick, the weary and old.
Help me O Father, more thoughtful to be
Of other men's sorrow and pain
More willing to put forth a helping hand
Without thought of worldly gain
Plant deep within me a love for mankind
So strong, so true, so sincere
That the spirit of Christmas may dwell in my heart
Not one day, but throughout the year
May the world be filled with the spirit of Christ
Love and peace drive out thoughts of war
May we have the deep faith, and as unselfish be
As the wise men, who followed the star,
Amen
